How do you know it’s murder? Well, first of all, most peoples don’t die out in the grass, or under a bush, or on the floor. If there’s a person lying in one of those places, be suspicious. Take your time and see if you can detect a second or third peoples presence. That’s the biggest telltale sign of murder. If somebody else was there and left, that’s who you need to look for.

Try to pick up smells of blood. Murder very often involves blood. That’s a big clue. Sometimes peoples get into fights and one of them ends up dead. There’s usually blood when that happens.

Poison is another big problem. Sometimes peoples get sick and fall down. That’s not murder. It can be hard to distinguish, but be sure to get your mom’s or dad’s attention anyway. They’ll appreciate it. Use your sniffer to determine if there are any scents of poison. There’s a big variety of those, and they all smell different. If your instinct says not to eat something that smells like that, it’s probably poison. Leave it alone! No licking to taste it!
